The BDIH – KTBW supports the development of digital innovations in healthcare through a range of projects. Its key areas of focus include leading projects and developing digital innovations, as well as supporting project consortia on their journey toward implementing digital innovations.
The AHEAD project is creating a digital, modular development environment that brings together information from various clinical subsystems and makes it centrally available for decision support and documentation. It assists healthcare professionals in making well-informed decisions between outpatient and inpatient treatment.
To achieve this, structured patient data is systematically collected and evaluated across sectors along the entire care pathway — from preparation and the hospital stay through to follow-up care — and automatically processed and presented in a clear and accessible format.
This creates an evidence-based foundation that takes into account both the patient’s medical condition and their home environment. The aim is to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, make inpatient capacities available for more complex cases, and at the same time make care more individualized, safer, and more efficient.
