Brief description: The TEDIAS project aims to automate and digitize, for the first time, routine processes involved in the medical admission of patients to a hospital. The goal is to standardize the admission process, generate structured data, and free up healthcare staff resources. To achieve this, a test center for patient admission and digital anamnesis is being established, along with a mobile “safe check-in” solution. At the heart of the new system are agile sensor technologies and an avatar for interacting with patients.

The aim of the TEDIAS project is to digitize anamnesis — the medical assessment and documentation of a patient’s health status — as a primary and fundamental step toward gradually establishing a digital hospital. It thus provides the foundation for creating the hospital of the future.

TEDIAS aims to automate routine processes involved in medical admission to a hospital for the first time, with the long-term goal of enabling these processes to be carried out without the direct involvement of medical staff. By involving patients more actively in the admission process, they can also be better informed about their health status and the procedures involved. 

The new system is centered around agile sensor technology and an avatar that interacts with patients. The system can incorporate, among other technologies, integrated infrared cameras for measuring body temperature, sensors for determining heart and respiratory rates, and microphones for recording breathing sounds or voice characteristics. 

None of these measurements place a burden on patients, as they are performed either contactlessly or through everyday actions, such as sitting down on a chair. Data analysis takes only a few seconds. The results of the digital initial assessment are then sent directly to the dashboard of the physicians who will see the patients shortly afterward. This requires the system to be connected to standard hospital information systems. 

The time previously required for routine initial examinations can instead be used for longer and more in-depth doctor-patient consultations. If the examination results indicate a relevant infection, healthcare staff can also take appropriate protective measures before the patient enters the treatment room, thereby helping to reduce the risk of transmission.
