Digital health literacy is the ability to understand, assess, and use health-related, digitally enabled information and technologies. This includes, for example, being able to independently assess and decide which digital options to use, which data to share with third parties, or how to manage health data collected through an app.

Digital health literacy is the ability to understand, assess, and use health-related, digitally enabled information and technologies. This includes, for example, being able to independently assess and decide which digital options to use, which data to share with third parties, or how to manage health data collected through an app.
The aim of the DIKOMED-BW project is to promote digital transformation in healthcare by strengthening specific digital skills among healthcare professionals, particularly physicians and nursing staff. The main instrument is a three-module multiplier training program supplemented by workshops.
The project aims to enable participants to independently communicate digitalization-related topics within their respective institutions and to develop their own training concepts or implementation projects. The objective is to increase the adoption of digital innovations within the participating institutions, which has already been successfully implemented in several organizations.
In addition to the training sessions, regular evaluations are conducted to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the project.
Following initial funding from the European Social Fund (ESF), the project is currently evolving into an “Alliance for Digital Competence in the Health Professions in Baden-Württemberg” as part of the Baden-Württemberg Health Industry Forum.
