Brief description: The TechPat nano project advanced nanotechnologies and explored their potential for medical applications, opening up new possibilities for clinical diagnostics. Complex analytical processes can be simplified through nanopore technology, while time-critical or therapy-monitoring molecular diagnostics can be made accessible for homecare and telemedicine through miniaturization and system integration.
Objectives/Outcomes: Development of:
- A miniaturized screening test for detecting infectious pathogens that can be used close to the patient and as a mobile handheld device (mobile diagnostic platform).
- A non-invasive monitoring test for small molecules and peptide biomarkers to accompany therapy, which can be used, for example, to monitor the progression of chronic kidney disease or predict rejection reactions following kidney transplantation (nanopore biosensor).
